A committed brand
Our journey began in Provence in 1976, when founder Olivier Baussan started distilling essential oils and selling them at local markets – inspired by nature. Since then, the brand has grown, but the philosophy has always remained the same: nature is important, people are important. That is why we have formulated six clear commitments.
Protecting biodiversity
Sustainability is an important part of our identity. We use traceable ingredients and ensure that plants are cultivated and harvested without harming nature and biodiversity. Our efforts are numerous: we have opened the first organic Immortelle plantation in Corsica, contributed to the return of almond trees to Provence, and are actively working to protect lavender, which is threatened by climate change.
Supporting our producers
At L’Occitane en Provence, we value the close relationships we build with our producers, founded on mutual trust, respect and long-term collaboration. They are the ones who carefully cultivate our locally sourced, traceable ingredients. By providing fair conditions, technical support and economic security, we help create opportunities for people to thrive, because when communities flourish, so does nature.
Reducing plastic waste
We take plastic pollution seriously and are actively working to reduce our environmental impact. By offering refill products and developing more sustainable packaging, we strive to make every choice a little more responsible, for the environment and for future generations.

Women's empowerment
Read moreWe believe in equality and in the power of helping women achieve their ambitions. Through our long-term work in West Africa, we have helped the women who produce our shea butter gain greater independence. With support from our Foundation, they have gained access to microcredit, literacy training and opportunities to send their children to school. Each year, we launch selected products to help raise funds for initiatives that support women's leadership.

Together for sight
Read moreHave you noticed the Braille featured on our packaging? Or our special products created to support the fight against avoidable blindness? Through partnerships with non-profit organisations, UNICEF and our Foundation, we actively work to improve the lives of blind and visually impaired people around the world. We have also helped provide children in vulnerable communities with vitamin A supplements, an important step in preventing vision loss, while supporting greater access to eye examinations and eye care.

We celebrate craftsmanship
Read moreCraftsmanship is deeply rooted in our history – and something we want to preserve. Traditional craft skills are invaluable but at risk of being lost. When you think of L'Occitane en Provence, we hope you think of authenticity, skills, traditions – and Provence. Our passion for creativity and genuine craftsmanship makes it natural for us to collaborate with local artisans. Together, we highlight their talent and expertise in our stores and create unique products that carry their story.
