With respect for biodiversity
We love Provence and the south of France – that's where our roots are. Therefore, it is only natural for us to protect the biodiversity of the Mediterranean region, one of the world's most species-rich and diverse ecosystems. Through our efforts, we want to contribute to protecting this unique environment for future generations.
Sustainable sourcing of raw material
L’Occitane draws inspiration from nature
We draw inspiration from the natural properties of plants to drive innovation. We strive to build long-term partnerships and prioritize locally-rooted supply chains with shorter transport routes for our key ingredients. All raw materials are of the highest quality and are sourced sustainably.
Proud cultivation of immortelle
Natural. Organic. Effective.
Our star ingredient, Immortelle, is at the heart of many of our skincare products – and we are proud to cultivate it with the utmost respect for nature. We work exclusively with producers who use organic farming methods, completely free of toxic chemicals. This protects both the earth and your skin – a sustainable solution that benefits everyone.
REPLANTING FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS
Trees – the heart of biodiversity
A tree gives a lot to our planet. They purify the air, filter water, protect wildlife, and offer shelter and shade. Today, the world's forests are threatened by exploitation, climate change, and diseases – a crisis that demands action. That's why we are proud to support PUR Projet, which has so far planted 8.5 million trees worldwide – and they have no plans to stop there.
ORGANIC LAVENDER FROM PROVENCE
For the future of lavender
This iconic flower is threatened by climate change. Since 2012, L’Occitane en Provence has partnered with French researchers to develop new and sustainable cultivation methods to secure its survival. Our lavender is organically grown in Provence and is certified with protected designation of origin (PDO), which guarantees both quality and full traceability.
THE RÉOTIER SPRING – A NATURAL TREASURE
And so it must remain...
The unique area around the Réotier spring is a place of extraordinary biodiversity and natural beauty. To protect this environment, we have conducted expert studies taking into account the landscape, geology, and animal and plant life. We use the spring water in a way that does not negatively impact water flow or the surrounding nature. Therefore, we never collect more than 0.04% of the spring's natural outflow per year – a testament to our commitment to sustainability and respect for nature's balance.
OUR AMBITION
-
GOAL:
To protect 1,000 plant species and varieties by 2025.
-
The way there:
- We ensure that our ingredients are traceable from field to finished product.
- We protect the environment by planting hedges and orchards for insects and wildlife, and by supporting organic farming.
